Trends may come and go, but others are here to stay. D Magazine recently featured the Top 25 Building Trends that are HOT right now.
If you’re building a new home now or are thinking about doing so in the future, these are options that you might want to consider including during the design phase. In addition, many of these features can be added to your current home if you’re tackling a renovation project. None of these are absolutely necessary features, however, they all seem like luxuries that most of us would thoroughly enjoy.
One of my favorite suggestions is the option of having USB ports on electrical outlets in key areas throughout the home. This is a convenience feature that is appealing to all ages.
There are a lot of popular features when it comes to bathroom design. At many of the homes that we’ve been building this past year our clients are choosing to have spa-like bathrooms. Many include rainfall shower heads and freestanding bathtubs in the master bathroom.
Custom cabinets that have special functions or purpose are important to clients. Many clients are opting to have less cluttered areas throughout the home and are customizing cabinetry to meet their specific needs. We’re including more appliance cabinets to hide coffee makers and toasters in the kitchen, as well as specialty drawers in the bathroom.
Just when you think you’ve see it all, new ideas are brought to the drawing board. It’s exciting to see these new innovations and trends making their way into the custom home building business.
